Station 5XX, at Daventry, England, will open on July 27, the postmaster general officiating, it is reported from London. This broadeaster, owned by the British Broadcasting Co., will take over the duties of the Chelmsford station, which has been operating on 1,600 meters with 15,000 watts, or approximately 7,500 watts, American rating. Even higher power is planned and it i= hoped that the new trans- mitter will serve about a million addi- tional crystal set owners. A studio in London will be used for transmis- sion. A wire connection to the station is being strung. This station will bring the total British broadcasters to 22, of which 8 are relay stations. Sixteen stations are rated as 1,500 watts or over, 2Lo being 3,000 and 5XX 15,000 watts. It would seem as if many American listeners should be able te pick up 5XX this Winter. Three Supervisors Here. Three district radio supervisors visited the Department of Commerce recently at Washington to confer with Chief Supervisor W. D. Terrell on local problems. Arthur Batchellor of the second district, at New York: S. W. Edwards, supervisor of the eighth district, Detroit, and R. Y. Cadmus, supervisor of the third district, with headquarters at Baltimore, were the visitors. 9:30 Godmother,” play by Mrs. Henry Hayes, presented under the direction of Mrs. Maud Howell Smith, chairman of the dram committee of the Arts Club.
