By the Asociated Press. JACKSONVILLE, Fla., February 14. —Near freezing temperatures brought a touch of wintry weather to Florida resorts during the last 24 hours, ac- cording to reports here last night, and Winter wraps were in order in citles as far south as Miami and West Palm Bezoh. Light frosts were reported in the vicinity of Miam! and Orlando and other inland cities. The thermometer dropped to 32 degrees at Orlando. The cold weather in southern Flor- ida has given that section the first appreciable cold weather of this sea- son. The drop in temperatures in the State was swift during the last 48 ~hours, ranging in most sections from 30 to 35 degrees. The United States Department of Agriculture here had no reports of damage to citrus fruits or crops from cold last night, but it was believed | that some of the vegelables were slightly injured in the interior. The temperature at Miami degrees early yesterday, the coldest weather that city has since February, 1922. The tempera- ture rose in all sections throughout the day. . The fire and health menace caued by the absence of sewers and city water connections in the Ashury Park section were stressed in reso- lutions adopted by the Northwest Suburban Citizens’ Assoclation at a meeting in the Tenleytown School, Wisconsin avenue, last night. This section, it was said, is compelled 1o use well water which is unfit for drinking purposes, and is without other sanitary equipment necessary to the health of the community. A committee’ composed of L. L. Derrick, president of the assoelation; F. F. Robey and F. J. Heider, was ap- pointed to present the matter to the Commissioners with a request that the improvements sought include tha opening up of Albemarle street from Wisconsin avenue to Forty-fifth street. Approval was given to the proposed action of Commissioner Bell in askinz for an appropriation of $358,000 for | the purchase of equipment and pay of labor incident to snow removal | Resolutions were adopted. favorinz the five-year school building program as prepared by the Board of Educa- tion. It was declded to ask the school board to institute business courses in Western High School, relleving st dents of this section of the necessity for going into the center of the city. President Derrick announced that Sen- ator Pat Harrison would be invited to address the association at its first mesting in the auditorium of the new scDool, which will probably be next month.
