Relck, former owner of the New York Sun, Evening Sun and the Journal of Commerce, died here last night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Henry S, Stearns, jr., after an fliness which dated from a stroke of paralysis he suffered while in Ber- muda in October. Mr. Reick bought the majority of the stock of the New York Sun from the estate of the late Willlam M. La Fannan on December 7, 1913. There he remained until 1916, when Frank A. Munsey, then proprietor of the New York Press, purchased his interest. In 1921 Mr. Relck acquired ntrol of the Journal of Commerce and Commercial Bulletin, only to re- tire in 1923 because of ill health. rior to his purchase of the con- trolling interest in the Sun Mr. Relck was one of the principal owners of the New York Times from 1907 to 1912 and president of the Public Ledger Company of Philadelphia dur- ing the same period.
