C., -"WEDNESDAY, Dawes, held hearings in Paris and Berlin, at which financial and eco- nomic experts of the allied countries ot the League of Nations and of Ger- many were called upon to testify. Dr. Schacht, president of the German Reichsbank, was among the promi- . [nent Germans who several times ap- peared before the committee, bhoth in Paris and in Berlin, to give his view- point on the situation. After long and laborious efforts, the report of the experts’ committee was drafted and submitted to the repara- tion commission, which accepted it as the basis for settlement of the long- standing trouble between the allies and Germany. After the reparation commission had accepted the report, the allied governments likewise gave their sanction to it, France in principle. The German government also accept- ed it, but for some time the Reichstag declined to acquiesce. Chancellor Marx declared the report presented th .n\y method of salvation for Ger- many. After acrimonious debates, Hoichstag on June 6, by a vote of 247 to 183, approved the position of the government in favor of the re- port. Yienry M.
