THE EVENING STEPHEN B. ELLERY DEAD. District Employe, Former Merch- Dies at Home Here. Stephen B. Ellery, seventy-three vears old, employed in the District water registers office for sixteen vears and a resident of this city since he was a boy, died at his resi- dance, 1524 Newton street, Saturday night, following an iliness of about three weeks: Before being employed in the Dis- trict building, Mr, Ellery had con- STAR. ducted several men's furnishing stores, his last store having been lo- cated on 9th street. He was the son of Albert and Mrs. Julia Ellery, with whem he moved to this city when he was a boy. He I3 survived by his widow, Mrs. LilMe C. Ellery, and two daughters, !Miss Frances T. and Miss Mary E. Ellery. Funeral services will be con- ducted at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock. Lighting a cigarette, she declares, Simms threw the lighted match into her hair, set- ting it afire. He is addicted to liquor, the wife asserts, and does mot prop- erly support her and their three chil dren. They were married at Rock- ville, Md., February 22, 1907, Attor- ney W. A. Military honors marked the burial in Arlington national cemetery this afternoon of Rear Admiral Nathan C. Twining, United States Navy, retired, who died at Nantucket, Mass., last Friday. Lucas of the Marine Corps U Admiral Twining was from Wiscon- sin and had served more than thirty seven years in the Navy, including about twenty years in cruises. He was decorated for gallantry and meritorious conduct during the Span- ish war and the world war. In the latter he served as chief of staff of the commander-in-chief of American naval forces operating in European waters.
