Wiley- on Sunday, March 23, at 3:30 p.m. His subject will be “Do You Want to Live Longer™" APPEALS FOR CLOTHING. - Mothers’ Congress Will Remodel Cast-Offs for Needy. An appeal for cast-off clothinz was made yesterday by the clot conservation committee of the Dis- itrict Congress of Mothers and Par- ent-Teacher Associations. The old clothing will be remodelied and given to_poor and needy school children. Mrs. Joseph N. Saunders explained clothing and has depleted the sup- ply of the clothes conservation com- mittee. ‘The mothers are willing to work,” she said, “but have nothing o do. do.’ The clothes conservation commit- tee, Mrs. Saunders declared, has a big demand at the present time for clothing for children of kindergarten age. The cast-off clothes, she said, should be sent to the commitice's workroom in the Appeals building, at 426 5th street morthwest. WINS WOMAN’S RELEASE. Petitioner Contests Confinement in Hospital for Observation. Miss Hannah Kats Cooke, an elderly street vender of brooms, was released yesterday from the Gallinger Hospital by Justice Siddons on a_writ of habeas corpus obtained by J. R. Rice, who says he is under contract to furnish & home to her, and that Miss Cooke is not indigent.’ The writ was directed to Dr. E. W. Patterson, su- perintendent of the hospital. Rice declares that February 20 last, while Miss Cooke was plying her oc- cupation, she was arrested by Lieut. Mina C. Van Winkle and sent to the hospital for observation. He adds she has never given any indications of in- sanity. The court set a hearing on the peti- tion for March 17, and in the interva! ordered the woman released without bond in the custody of her attorney H Mason Welch.
