Y., January 26.—Claims against the bankrupt L. R. Steel Corpo- ration and the Steel Realty Devemp- ment Company uggregate $1,600,000, says a statement issued last night by the federal receivers. The plan to liquidate all live assets of the $26,000,000 corporation, the state- ment says. has been deferred three months to give e stackholders’ pro- tective trust an opportunity to raise the funds required 1o take the corporations t of bankruptcy. This plan, the state- ment adds, will bring the best results to creditors Because of the complexity of the sit- uation in the L. R. Steel organization {and the equity receiverships in many Subsidinry companies and the legal questions involved, the trustees state that they cannot answer the inquiry made by creditors on the advisability of selling their claims. “In the event that the assets are not taken over by the stockholders’ protec- tive trust,” the statement says, “a very serlous question will arise for adjudica- tion _as to who has legal title to many of the assets of either or both of these bankrupt estates, and also as to the re- lationship of the bankrupts one to the other and to the various other steel companles as to whether they are debt- ors or creditors one to the other and he extent thereof.” 1313 YOU STREET, N.W.
