Frederic William Wile, correspondent, outlined the prospects of the varlous presidential candidates of both parties in a speech today at Sidwell's Friends School, on “Present Political Conditions in Washington.” Since a man “in” has a great advan- tage over the man who is “out” of office, President Coolldge now stands the best chance of being nominated at the Cleveland convention next June, sald Mr. Wile, although in the western states Senator Hiram John- son has considerable influence. Mr. Wile spoke of the effect pro- duced by President Coolldge's frank message to Congress, especially as it touched upon the bonus agitation, and expressed the opinfon that the bonus would pass Congress for politi- cal reasons, probably over the Presi- dent's veto, in spite of the fact that the people’ throughout the country have shown themselves strongly op- Posed to the bonus. Mr. Wile commented on the very close balance of power existing in Congress today, owing to the almost even number of representatives of both parties in each house, with the insurgent republicans holding the de clding power in many !mportant na- | tional questions, newspaper Complete Stock Eversharp Pencils 50c¢ to $5.00 Self-Filling Fountain Pens 95¢ Up War Tax 5% Get It at Gibson’s |] Where Your Dol Extra = Have More Suspenders, 1 for 50c, zfor wioisine 516 Men’s Handkerchiefs, 1 for 10c, 2 for Candies Hard Candy, 1 pound for 35c, 2 pounds for....
