H STREET CHRISTIAN MINISTER RESIGNS; Rev. Mr. Cave Will Be Sec- retary for Three PRIPAERN, REV. PRESTON A. CAVE, Rev. Preston A. Cave, after a pas- torate of six and a half years at the H Street Christlan Church, 6th and H Btreets southwest, has tendered his resignation, to take effect July 1, to accept the office of general secretary of the Missionary Soclety of the Dis- ciples of Christ in Maryland, Dela- ware and the District of Columbla, to which he has been unanimously elected by the state board. Rev. Mr. Cive came to the pastor- ate of ‘the H Strest Church from a seven-year pastorate at Bowling Green, Va., January 1, 1917, and under bis ministry the church has made re- markable progress. Beside paying off a debt of some $8,000 on the Bible schoolhouse, he led the church in the erection of the beautiful auditorfum which was dedicated April 2, 1922, at a cost of $37,500, including the pipe organ and furnishings. When he came to the pastorate Dr. Cave found a property valued at $25,000. He re- tires leaving the church with a prop- erty valued at $70, During these .1x nnd a half years the congresation has _contributed more than_ $40,000 for all purposes, and there have been about 200 addi- tions to the membership. While Dr. Cave Wnl conduct the services and preach for the last time as pastor of the church tomorrow, it is understood that he and his family will still make their home in Wash- ington, and he will have his office here while prosecuting the work of zeneral secretary. Archimandrite Mardary, administrator of the Serblan Eastern Orthodox Church in the diocese of the United States and Canada, 18 to hold a service at 5 p.m. tomorrow at the urch of the Incarnation, 12th and streets northwest, in celebration of the national The service will be held in the ecclesiastical vernacular ¢f the Serbs and Dr. Mardary will preach in Eng- lish. Rev. Dr. George W. Atkinson, rector of the Church of the Incarna- tion, will also take part in the service with the assistance of other clergy- men of the Episcopal Church. The legation of the kingdom of the Serbs, Croats and Slovenes has been informed of this service, and it is probable that the minister and his staff will attend officlally.
