And, of course, having done it to him, she had to do the same to the Prince of Wales, Prince s Day. While they are yet awaiting the arrival of the bride, an amusing inci- {dent occurs. Nothing put in, nothing left out. There {3 an address from the arch- bishop, which is not easy to hear in all parts of the church, and then the bride and bridegroom pass into the vestry to sign the register, accom- panied by the king and queen and the very few of the nearest relations. Presently the radiant couple reap- pear, the familiar strains of the wed- ding march fill the church and they walk down the aisle, followed by the king and queen and the rest of the royal family, the Prince of Wales tenderly escorting Queen Alexandra. Porter, Farragut, Tattnall and others first made history for the young American Navy in the early decades of the nineteenth century. Piracy in the waters of the gulf and Caribbean sea recall a time when ordinary naval vessels failed to reach the seat of trouble to which the creeks and lagoons en our lower coast gave some protection, thus call- ing into existence what has long since been known as the original American “mosquito fleet.” Had Thrilling Record. The “mosquito fleet” of the years gone by was the conception of Com- modore David Porter, which became | 8o effective then that its mission from 1820-24 was soon over, but not with- out the record of one of the most ex- citing chapters in our early naval history.
