THE EVENING STAR, WASHINGTON, D. C, TUESDAY, M MARCH 20, 1923. MUZZEY'S HISTORY § WINS LONG FIGHT Board of Education Reported \Ready to Vote New Lease i1 of Life. HOLD CHARGE UNFOUNDED Fate to Be Decided Tomorrow. Text Book Declared Absolved of Unpatriotic Accusation. Muzzey’s much criticized American history text book will undoubtedly be &iven a new lease of life in the Wash- ington high schools by the board of <Jducation when it meets tomorrow afternoon to take definite and final actlon on the question of whether its use should be continued or discon- tinued. Members of the board who bave carefully scrutinized the con- tents of the book, it was said today, have reached the conclusion that the charges that the text is un-Ameri- £an and unpatriotic are unfounded. The fight against the use of Prof. Muzzey's book in the District high schools, which had been quiescent for more a year, was reopened at | the board meeting on February 21 by Vice President Daniel J. Callahan The board, however. sidestepped the question at that time and made it| the special order of business at to- Wmorrow’s session. No Evidence, They Say.
