That Majn 6797. If the War Department fails to act in the case of Maj. Gen. Cronkhite, retired, Senator Glass, democrat, Vir- ginia, according to plans outlined to- day by him, will introduce a resolu- tion when Congress reconvenes for a thorough inquiry by the Senate mili- tary committee. A resolution of investigation was drafted last week by Senator Glass, but he was infromed that it would meet with objection and he with- held it, convinced that the short time before' adjournment made adoption improbable. The senator said he prepared his resolution when in- formed that the War Department did not regard evidence of all tampering with official files bearing on the death at Camp Lewis, in 1918, of Maj, A. P. Cronkhite, the general's son, as sufficient to warrant action by a board of inquiry. “There should be a thorough in- vestigation,” said Mr. Glass today. “If the War Department does not act during the. recess, I shall press my resolution as soon as the Senate re- convenes.” 5 BOWELS | lllons of mothers keep “California Syrup” handy.
