Dr. George Woodruff Johnson, re- tired physician, dropped dead in the lecture hall of the Soclety of Arts and Letters last night while reading a manuscript before the Shakespeare Soclety. Death was due to heart fail- ure, according to Deputy Coroner Herhert E. Martyn. Dr. Johneon was attacked by a. coughing spell in the midst of his| manuscript, and dropped to the floor. He was a native of ‘Washington and since his retirement from the prac- tice of his profession he had devoted his life to literary work.
