Poor street lighting was a factor in the exoneration by a coroner's jury Tuesday of Joseph [Ferry, twenty- two years old, 716 Euclid street, in connection with the death of Caesaro Compagnoli, 204 G street northeast, who was struck Saturday night by an automobile driven by the youth. How- ever, Ferry must answer a charge in Tolice Court of running awsay from the scene of the accident, Florida avenue northwest, between North Capitol and 1st streets, and failing to make known his identity. The jury's | verdict was accidental death. : Gieorge 1. Rogers, a street car motorman on the Florida avenue line of the Cupital Traction company, testified that this particular street Is not lighted very good at its best, and that Saturday night the lights were out from time to time. Hit While Crossing Street. Compagnoli, it was testified, was r g the street and stopped before the automobile reached Ferry, it was asserted at_the slowed down the car.
