REAL Washington’s Growth Reflected in Real Estate and Building News MERIDIAN HOTEL D, C. REALTORS DUE MORE THAN IN D. C. REALTY LOANS| C. Clinton James Shows Total of Invest-| ESTAT $35,000,000 ments by Building Associations in Financing Construction of Homes. There is more than $35,000,000 in- wested in real estate in the District of Columbia by the building and loan as- soclations, according to C. Clinton James, president of the Bullding and Loan Assoclations Council. In a review of the progress made by the associations in the past six months, Mr. James said: “The build- ing and loan assoclatlons have assist- ed in solving the housing question by helping persons of limited means to finance the buying of their homes, but the demands for loans have been much greater than the funds avail- able. ‘A total of mors than 50,000 people are members of Lullling and loan as- soclations here. Ve could use twice $35,000,000 to take of the de- mands for loans on real estate. “We belleve that a man who owns his home will not be & bolsheviki,” sald. “The building and loan cfatlons throughout the country are encouraging thrift and educating peo- plo to own thelr own homes.
