LOT FLANNERY IS LA | 10 REST AT MT. OLVET Funeral Rites for Creator of Lin- coln Statue Simnle. But Impressive. With simple rites Lot Flanuery, one of Washington's best knowa citizens and creator .of the famous Lincoln statue in front of the courthouse, was laid to rest this morning In Mount ate family and a few lifelong friends. The funeral services were impress- ively simple. Mr. Flannery's closest friends paid their last respects to the body at the late residence, 2920 Upton street northwest, last night. At 9 oclock this morning the body was re- moved to §t. Thomas’ Catholic Church, on Woodley road, and requiem mass was celebrated by the Rev. Thomas A. Walsh, pastor of the church. At the grave once more the simple rites were observed. Interment wa: in the family lot. The pallbearers, most of whom were relatives of Mr. Flannery, were Edward Fowler, War- ron McLean, John Zabel, Willlam Fowler, Sincialr Fowler and Eugene O'Danels. Few joyed a wider circle of close friends than Mr. Flannery, and his death has been mourned in all parts of the city. A respected citizen and a highly suc- cessful sculptor, he had enjoyed the acquaintance of most of the notable men who had come to Washington. Among them was Abraham Lincoln, Whose statue was considered one of the sculptor's finest pleces of work.
