BELFAST, October 30.—Antrim Castle, near Lough Neagh, the home of Viscount Massereene, parliamen- tary secretary of the prime minister of northern Ireland, was completely destroyed by fire yesterday morning. Viscount Massereene is a descendant of the speaker of the old Irish house of commons. A maldservant perished in the flames, and others of the house- hold had narrow escapes. Miss Grace D’Arcy, daughter of the Most Rev. Charles Frederick D'Arcy, Protestant primate of all Ireland, was | E forced to leap from a window to es- cape the flames. Among other guests of Viscount Massereene was Maj. Gen. Cameron, commanding the forces in Ulster. Antrim Castle was built by Sir Hugh Clv:;worthl an officer of Queen Eliza- eth. b Lydican _Castle, in County Galwa: built in Cromwellian days, also was destroyed by fire set by armed men Saturday. The men kept the family occupying the castle under armed guard in an outhouse during the fire. Republican forces who came on the scene helped to save some of the furniture in the castle.
