While the increased populafity of stippled walls has not yet brought about any marked reduction in wall paper sales, sellers of this merchandise admit that they will have something to worry over if the vogue continues to grow. Both the manufacturers and the importers agree that there has been a large increase in building operations this year, which would ordinarily in- crease wall paper sales, but in most cases the volume of their business is no larger than last fall. The stippling vogue has also made itself felt in an- other way to the wall paper manu- facturers, a good part of their present business being done in light shades of stipple paper that greatly resembles stippled paint. For living rooms sub- dued tones in tapestry papers are also in active demand. FIRM FAILS; HITS ANOTHER.
