The Shriners of Almas Temple are losing no time in getting ready for the mammoth convention_of the Im- perial Council in Washington next June. A year of good work lies be- fore them, and they mean it shall be well done. Ellwood P. Morey, thirty-third de- gree Mason, and deputy for the Su- preme Council of the Scottish Rite in the District of Columbia, was to- day appointed by Illustrious Poten- tate Leonard P. Steuart as general chairman of the housing committee for the convention; Thomas E. Jar- rell, a prominent realtor, general chairman of the finance committee, and Recorder F. Lawrence Walker, general chairman of the ocmmittee for the reception and entertainment of the Shrine Recorders of North America. Many Subcommittees. Each of these committees will have its own subcommitte headed by vice chairmen, and all king under and in co-operation with Executive Secretary Harry Standiford and 1I- lustrious Potentate Steuart. The housing committee will include subcommittees on hotels, private home hospitality, camps, parked Pullman cars, and everything con- nected with the housing of the great army of Shriners expected the first week of next June. The finance committee also wil have several subcommittees to dehl with the various sources of income necessary to the promotion of the big event, while the committee on re- corders will likewise comprise sub- committees whose business it will be to provide for the housing of the members of the Shrine Recorders socfation, of which Recorder F. The free speech-correction course which has been held for the past ten days at the Central High School and Georgetown Hospital by Dr. Walter B. Dr. Switt will go direct to Boston, his home, where he will start his own public speech clinics for the continua- tion of the charity there. City Postmaster Chance is going to get six additional carriers, but he doesn’t know it yet, 8o be careful not to give the secret away. { The Washington city post office | will have its carrier force increased by six men, It was announced at the Post Office Department today. The local office is thus included among twenty-two cities which will have their ‘carrier forces augmented by 203 clty carriers. Growth of postal business and the heavy dally mails have led to the office of First Assistant Postmaster General Bartlett authorizing this in- crease. The local office has 390 carriers, so the increase will bring the total with- in striking distance of 400 men. Post- master Chance said today that the increase was news to him, but that he would be glad to get the carriers, as he needed them.
