At the conference at 4 o'clock it will be pointed out that Elliott Woods, architect of the Capitol, is impressed with. the idea of. making_the celebra- day of a'type that will harmonize with the patriotic ideals of the day. “Becduse of the location selocted for the celebration, it is considerad un- likely that fireworks will form a part of the program. The plans contem- plate a number ‘'of addresses by men and women of national prominence in- terspersed with patriotic musical se- lections and onme or two community songs. Commissioner Rudolph, it is stated, has consented to serve as chairman of the celebration, providing plans tentatively made do not require his absence from ‘- Washingten on the Fourth of July. The Secretary of the Navy.will be asked to detail the Ma- rine, Band to furnish music for the occasion, and the Secretary of War will be requested to detall one of the Army bands. The intention of holding the cele- bration in the evening was predicated on the belief that most of the com- munity celebrations probably will be held in the morning or eafly after- noon of the day, and that consequent- ly there would be no conflict of exer- { ciges.
