Harbell, the mount of President Harding. will be called upon to de‘end the honors. of the White House bles this afternoon at the Natlonal Capital Horse Show at Arlington Park, when a special saddle class will be staged, with entries competing against the horse from the presiden- tial string. The police horse class is to be .|judged this afternoon, the winner to take away a prize donated by Wil- liam P. Eno. The mount must be suitable for police work, must be & gelding, not under 16.1 hands and not more than 16 hands. Pershing Horse Winner. Woodcock. for all hunters’ class a few days ago. succumbed yesterday in the handicap for green hunters, and Gen. John J. Pershing’s horse 'Princess was the lady who triumphed over him. She put up a perfect performance, tak- ing off and golng over each jump with | ch, as clean a pair of heels as could be wished. Woodcock brushed one of the jumps slightly and lost the blue ribbon of this ss. The runner up In this event was Blue Ridge, entered by Miss Marion du Pont. 1t took old Buddy, with his twenty- two years of sagacity and development to carry off honors in the military en- durance test yesterday., He carried Maj. C. L. Scott over the eight final jumps of the contest in faultless style, but young Lady Luck, a-five-year-old, pushed him to the extreme for honors. The final scoring gave Maj. Scott 1961 points for the thirty-mile run of Friday, the condition judgment of Saturday and the jumps yesterday combined, whereas Capt. J. T. Cole, on Lady Luck, accumulated exactly 196 points for the same three events. Buddy also went into the spectacu- lar bareback jumping class and an- nexed the premler honors in this vent. George G. Millholland's Jane, welve years old herself, was runner- up. The splendid work accomplished during the last few years by the Army remount workers was easily recognized in the military jumping class feature yesterday. for the cup presented by Larz Anderson. Gen. Pershing had two horses in the rib- bon awards, Princess taking the red and Prominent Tom taking fourth prize. Maj. Patton's handsome chest- nue, Allahmande, took the first hon- ors, and Dragoon, entered by the same horseman, took third. Long before should the name Fa- vonius have been mentioned in this accougf. Entered and ridden in_the thoroughbred saddle class by Mrs. Allen Potts of iVrginia, he far out- shone his class and took off the blue vibbon to complete a string of sev- enteen straight wins.
