e e GOVERNOR MAY STAY EVICTION OF ‘MINERS $ 1 West Virginia Executive Considers Postponement After Getting Wire , From Secretary Davis. ?ovA Morgan of ‘West Virginia Is glving “immedigte consideration” to péstponement of eviction of several hundred West Virginia coal miners from their homes, he said today in a telegram to Secretary of Labor Davis. The telegram from Gov. Morgan s in reply to one gemt yesterday by Sec- retary Davis, who informed the West Virginia executive that a delegation of miners and their families had call- ed upon the President yesterday seek- ing a stay of the eviction proceed- ings scheduled for today. The mat- ter was turned over to Secretary Davis_for disposition and he wired Cov. Morgan that “a saner mode of procedure would be a postponement until climatic conditions and means of transportation are available.” According to the telegram from Sec- retary Davis to the governor, the miners’ representatives claim that they, with all other miners, have ac- cepted modifications of existing con- tracts by accepting unconditionally the terms of their employers and by signing or expressing willingness to sign the individual agreement neces- sary to secure employment. They also claim that a few men in a number of camps were not allowed to sign. The evictions, the Secretary said, are claimed not to be necessary to make room for other miners, as there are already empty houses in all camps. MADE ASSISTANT ATTACHE. Lieut.
