Elmore was to have been placed on trial in_Lawrenceville yesterday and two military companies were held ready here to be sent (o that town to protect him. Owing to the feeling in Brunswick county and fear that an- other mob might be formed, a motion for a change of venue was made by counsel for the negro and was im- mediately granted by Judge Jesse F. . Many farmers, including a number of witnesses, arrived in Richmond | early this morning from Brunswick county, but there were no signs of any further trouble, and it was ex- pected that the trial would proceed without difficulty.
