Burlingame in Detective Office. _ Promotions and transters in the po- lice department were announced yes- terday afternoon, following a session of the board of District Commission- ers, the board approving the slate pre- sented by Commissioner Oyster, who has immediate supervision of the po- lice department, and Maj. Harry L. Gessford, superintendent of police. The change which was of much in- terest to the department involved the tranafer from the detective office of Lieut. Guy E. Burlingame, who was in charge of the office from 4 o'clock in the afternoon until midnight, and the promotion of Lieut. Caney L. Plem- mons. night inspector, to the position. A difference of $40 a month in pay allowance is involved. Lieut. Bur- lingame will go on duty in the ninth precinct tonight. Inspector Clifford L. Grant, chief of detectives, asked for the transfer of Lieut. Burlingame. ~The latter had been in charge of the detectlve force at night the past several years, never before having performed such dut in a precin eut. J. W.
