Following a_year's illness, Samuel M. Meeks, a life-long resident of the District and prominently identified in Masonic circles, died at his home. 1419 Clifton street, last night. Mr. Mecks hkd been in business in the city for the past thir- ty-five years, and numbered among his friends men prominently connected with the commercial life of the ecity. He was a member of the Masonic fra- ternity, having been connected with The New Jerusalem Lodge, Mount Vernon Chapter, No. 3, R. A. Washington Commandery of Templar. He married Miss Grace Fearson of an old Washington fam- ily, and besides his wife. he is surviv_ ed by one son, Fearson Samuel Meeks of this city.
