JAMESTOWN ISLAND, Va,, June 18 —The 314th anniversary of the An- gelican communion in America w fifteen celebrated here yesterday with a special communion service on practi- cally the same spot where the early English settlers in 1607 held their first communion services. Conducted by Bishop.Beverley D. Tucker, Epis- copal bishop of southern Virginia, the service duplicated, as far as possible. the first American communion, and a silver service presented to the James. town church more than 300 years ago by the British crown was used. ‘The service was held in what is known as the fort, and & pulpit was erected between two sheltering trees. The sermon was as simple es the original service 314 years ago. The! celebration was under the auspices of the Jamestown committee of the | Association for the Preservation of | Virginia Antiquities, and was attend- ed by prominent Episcopalians from southeastern Virginia, who made the trip here by special steamboat. BALTIMORE, June 13.—One of the first steps toward reduction in price of building contruction in Baltimére was taken last week at a meeting of the Master Bullders’ Association. At this conference it was decided that the standard wage of carpenters, commencing July 1. will be 75 cents an hour instead of 90 cents, the pres- ent scale.
