On the one hand. the was the easing of money rates. which normally would have counted more than anything else. On the other hand, however, there was a perskstent | weakness in £tocks, causing deal of unloading of bonds by aught in the decline, and the the depressing influence of the urities. | government and New York state financink, the market was in a more or gested state owing 1o the -to bringing out of syndicate offerings. But this congestion has been ma terially increased by the $500,000,000 i United States note offering, and the $41,000,000 New York bond iss The net result of these factor the trading of the day was an irr lar price movement with a tendency predominating. One no exception was the liberty cents, which at one time were up over | a point on the day and more than points from their recent low. CHICAGO, June 10.—Wheat prices scored_a material advance today as a result of free buying on the part of houses with seaboard connections. Further unwelcome rains in the southwest counted in favor of the bulls. Besides, there were adverse crop advices from the Ohio valley. Opening quotations, which ranged from 1# to 3% cents higher, with July 1.36% to 1.38, and September 1.19 to 1.19%, were followed by mod- erate additional upturns. Corn lacked support. After open- ing at % cent decline to a shade advance, including July at 61% to 1, the market underwent a gen- eral sag. NEW YORK, June 10.—The cotton market was very quiet early today and prices fluctuated within a range of 4 to 5 points. There was & renewal of July liquidation, which sent the price off to 12.52, but it was absorbed against sales of new crop positions. October contracts ruled between 13.32 and 13.35 during the early trading. Futures opened steady; July, 1 October, 13.35: December, 13.34; Jan- uary, 13.92; March, 14.25. There was a little flurry of local liqui- dation and southern selling later, with October easing off to 13.31, or about five points net lower. Otherwise the market showed no freeh feature, and general business continued very quiet, with just about enough buying of early new crop months to absorb sales against purchases of July z NEW ORLEANS, June 10.—Gains of 2 to 4 points were made during the first call in the cotton market today, but the market soon sagged under coal reports from England. Trading prices went 1 to 5 points under the close of yesterday. July traded up to 1218 and sank back to 12.10. Futures opemed quiet; July, 12.12; October, 12.92; December, 13.36; Jan- uary, 13.52; March, 13.82 Detailed weather reports from Texas noted very heavy rains in that state, twenty-seven stations out of thirty- nine reporting being wet, while ten stations reported _rainfall of from 1 to 2% inches. While this was ac- cepted as likely to increase boll weevil complaints, it did no more than steady the market. LIVERPOOL, June 10.—Spot cotton quiet; prices steady.
