Mrs. Randall Hagner, chairman of the ball committee, stood at the head of the receiving line and wore an elaborate gown of pale blue and sil- ver brocaded metal cloth, the bodice embroidered in crystals and a sash of pale blue tulle tied in & bow at the left side, the ends forming a long graceful train. She carried an arm- ful of pink and white roses. Mrs. James M. Wadsworth, jr., wore black tulle, with an overdress of gold lace, and she carried a lovely bou- quet of tiny red roses and gardenias. Mrs. Frederick T. Brooke, black tulle, the skirt in two deep flounces and the decollete bodice cut square with el- bow length sleeves. She wore a string of exquisite pearls and a scarf of tulle. Mrs. Gist Blair, geranium pink velvet with brilliants on the bodice forming the shoulder straps and the skint made with a long nar- row train. 8he carried an ostrich feather fan of the same shade.
