Church have completed preparations for entertain- ing the Virginia annual conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church, which will convene here Thursday morning next. hop John F, Hurst, D.D., LL. D., of ashington will preside over the delibera~ < of the body, which will be in session for about a week. Seventy-five or eighty iting delegates, lay and ministerial, are expected to attend. These will represent charges throughout the state of Virginia and several stations In the southwestern part of West Virginia. Apart from the wsual_ business transacted at the annual convention of this body, the election of de- egates to the general conference to be held in Chicaga will take place this year. Trinity Church js well adapted to the pur- poses of the conference. It has a large au- ditorium and ample committee rooms, with other necessary apartments. Its pastor, Rey. N. B. Masters, who has served the church for two years, will be transferred to the Florida conference of the M. E. Church, and will leave in the near future. A republican county convention, called for the purpose of electing nine delegates to the state convention, which meets at Nor- folk April 10, and a like number of dele- gates to the eighth congressional district convention, which me2ts at Warrenton to- morrow, held at Fairfax Court House yesterday. Mr. J. M. Thorne, county chair- man, called the convention to order, and after explaining the object of the meeting, was elected president and Major Charles Hine of Vienna was chosen secretary.
