Noble Work Being Done by Ladies of the Lo Legion. The ladies of the Loyal Legion, under the direction of Mrs. Lizzie S. Calver, are do- ing noble work in behalf of the homeless soldiers of the District regiment, and a visit to the temporary home, No. 418 9th street, is a most instructive lesson. There are now fifty men being cared for at the home, and everything possible is being done for their comfort. While a Star reporter was there at noon today two soldiers brought in another suf- fering from a severe chill. He was Private Alfred Moore of Company M. He had been sick for a month. He was taken upstairs to the hospital ward, where Dr. Peltys who was in attendance, prescribed proper treatment. There are six others in the sick ward, but all are improving. It is Mrs. Calver’s intention to have the men at the home form a company and adopt military regulations, including guard aa hospital corps and all the other de- tails. Mr. Peter B.
