K street east to 13th street Order of Court Concerning the Tavis- tock Flats. In the case of the Anglo-American Sav- ings Association against John H. Walter, Reeves T. Strickland and others, Judge Cox has vacated a decree made by him on the 17th instant, appointing Messrs. F. L. Sid- dens and W. J. Lambert receivers to sell the Tavistock Flats, on 3d street, upon the petition of Mr. John H. Walter. It is said that Mr. Walter, in June, 1897, gave his bend and a trust to secure a certain debt on the flats, and shortly thereafter he sold them to Mr. Strickland, subject to the trust. A default occurred after Mr. Walter sold, and a bill was filed about a month ago to sell the property and hold Mr. Walter personally responsible for any deficiency. It is alleged that Mr. Walter had no notice of the proceedings and had not yet filed his answer when the decree of sale was en- tred. That decree is now vacated. Mr: W. Mosby Williams appeared for ihe pe- titioner, Walter. Ses Enthasiastic Young Soldier. Mr. Frederick C. Ohm of the United States geological survey, a resident of Brookland, has just received a letter from his son, Will Ohm, a member of the Ist District of Columbia Regiment, at Tampa. The young soldier writes enthusiastically of the prospect he and his comrades have of assisting In actual war. He describes graphically the experiences of the regiment in the Florida town, and says: “The only trouble is we are not going away soon. In this morning's paper I read that the Porto Rico expedition, under General Coppinger, is to be postponed, and an expedition to aid General Shafter is to go next.” The letter is dated the 21st instant.
