The organization formed last Friday night at a meeting of the friends and rela- tives of the District soldier at the front, for the purpose of relieving the boys in blue as much as possible by providing for their wants, is rapidly being perfected, and is already in shape to receive subscriptions and contributions. A meeting of the con- stitutional committee of nine was held Sat- urday night at the residence of Rev. Henry N. Couden, the blind chaplain of the House of Representatives, who was the originator of the movement, and who has been chosen president of the organization. Detective Boyd Will Herenfter Serve at Executive Mansion, Detective Boyd, who was yesterday re- leved from duty at headquarters, was to- day assigned for service at the White House. He has been a member of the po- lice force for about thirteen years, and has made a good record. After doing street duty for a long time, he did service in con- nection with the police harbor boat. Later he was made a member of the detective force.
