Miss Rebecca Fowle -Daingerfield and Mr. James Monroe Love, jr., were married at 5:43 o'clock yesterday “&fteriioon at the handsome residence ef--the bride's parents, corner of Cameron and Washington streets, in the presence of the immediate families of the participants and a few friends. The bride is a daughter of Mr. Wm. B. Daingerfield, and one of ‘ATéxdtidria’s hand- somest and most popular,gaung society wo- men. The groom is c&nnected with the United States coast survey steamer Blake, now lying in the harbor at Baltimore, and ig a son of Judge James M. Love of the county courts of “Alexandria and Fairfax counties. BE ERS Promptly at the hour named Miss Dain- gerfield, accompanied by her brother, Mr. Bathurst Daingerfield, and Mr. Love, with his brother, Mr. Thomas.B..Love, as best man, entered the commodious "parlors, which had been*etaborately decorated for the occasion with palms, potted plants and cut flowers. Waikihg the'full length of the room, they, took their places under a vower of roses in the extreme east end. The sol- emn and impressive marriage service of the Episcopal Church was said by Rev. P. P. Phillips, rector of St. Paul's Church, this city, and Rev. Prof. S. A. Wallis, D.D.. of the Virginia-'Pheologieal.Seminary. After the ceremony an elegant wedding supper was served, after-which-Mr. and Mrs. Love left on the Norfolk steamer for a short stay at Old Point. Mr. Love is attached to the United States coast survey, as a draughtsman, and will in a day or so sail with the vessel named for Key- West. Mrs. Love’ Will accompany her husband to.Baltimore, here she will re- main until the Blake is definitely settled in some port. - The bride was dressed in pure white silk, with long flowing veil, and carried in her hand a large bunch of bride's roses. The groom wore the torventional-full dress suit. Mr. and Mrs. Love stole a march on the wedding guests, who ttad=according to cus- tom, arranged to cover them with rice and old shoes. Whilé'the festivities were in full blast they slipped out the back way to where a carriage had been stationed, en- tered it and drove rapjdly to the wharf, where they took the boat. Banquet Last Night. The banquet of.Alexandria Division, An- cient Order of Hibernians, at the Young Men's Sodality Lyceum Jast night, in honor of St. Patrick’s day, was a great success. Congressman Mahaney of New York was the orator of the evetting> His address was most eloquent, Speeches, were also made by Mr. Louls P. Mechen of Fairfax Court House and Col Delaware Kemper of this elt, The banquet hall was handsomely decorated, end the shamrock was promi- nently displayed. OMficers ‘Elected. The funeral of Mrs. Susan M. Wheat took place yesterday afterncon from her late residence on Prince street, and was ely attended.- Services-were conducted by Rev. P. P. Phillips of St. Paul’s Church. The pallbearers were Messrs. George Car- hin, J. F. Carlin, H. F. Wneat, Urban Lam- bert, W. F. Lambert and Ernest Crymes. A Friendly-Suit. Miss Ellen Daingerfield has enterea & friendly suit In the circuit court of this city against the heirs of R. J. and Heary Daingerfield for a partition of all of the preperty in the state belonging to the es- tate of the late~Henry Daingerfield, sr., Feld by his widow, the late Mrs. &. R. Daingerfield. This suit is in connection with the suit recently entered in Washing- ton for the same Durpose. Police News. In the pelice court this morning Mayor Simpson disposed of the following cases: Dan Nelson, charged with drinking and isorderly conduct, was dismissed; five }eung men, charged with breaking a win- dow glass, were fined $2.50 each; John Min- nie, a vag, was ordered out of town. Summoned as Witnesses. Lieutenant Smith and Officer Young left teday for Altoona, Pa. to appear as wit- nesses for the defense on the charge of arson agemst -H. Friedlander, who was arrested in Washingten several months ago. Store Burgiarized. The store of Newton Vance, on South Columbus street, was broken into and robbed some time during last night. Two pairs of shoes were stolen. The police were notified today and are now seeking a clue to the whereabouts of the bur- giars. Brevities.
