Proposed Change in Law Regulating the Business. : Commissioner Wight has had prepared a bill to regulate steam engineering and the inspection of stationary steam boilers in the District. The regulations of other cities were considered in the preparation of the measure, and practical stationary steam engineers in the District and in private employ were consulted. It became apparent some time ago to Mr. Wight that the present regulations are defective in many respects, one of the mcst fatal being the inability to punish engincers licensed to operate small plants, but who operate plants of the greatest cepacity, embarrassment and danger being caused by this practice. The bill provides for an annual salary of $2,000 for the inspector of steam boilers in lieu of the fees he now receives, =x ER. On Monday.
