The finance committee of the London county council report that they have a re- turn prepared showing for the financial year enied March, 1897, the charge on each parish in London, in respect of loans, and the amount of loans outstanding in respect of parish loans, union loans, dis- trict board losns and central and county loans, together with the rate in the pound of the charge, and the rate per cent of the lJoans outstanding to the ratable value of the parish in respect of loans for local pur- poses and for local and county purposes. ‘The total debt of London was now £38,681,- 661, which involved a on the rates of £2,585,024, of which £1,217,791 was inter- est and £1,367,233 repayment.
