14 oo SUICIDE AT SNOW HILL. The Son of the Late Senator Wilson Shoots Himself. William Sidney Wilson committed suicide Bt his home in Snow Hill, Md., Sunday af- ternoon by shooting himsel? with a Te. volver. For some time he had been in bad health, and is supposed to have taken his life while suffering under temporary aber- ration of mind. His daughter, Miss Louise Wilson, was in the room with her father at the time. She attempted to take the revolver from Mr. Wilson, but was unsuccessful. He died in- Mantly after firing the shot. Mr. Wilson was one of the best known men on the peninsula. He was the eldest ron of the later United States senator, Ephraim King Wilson of Worcester, and was born in that county, near Snow Hill. He was forty-five years old and a graduate pf St. John’s College, Annapolis. Mr. Wil- on studied law under his father, and was admitted to the bar in early manhood. He had practiced continuously since in the first circuit and before the court of ap- peals. In 1877 Mr. Wilson was elected to the house of delegates, and in 18%3 he was elected state’s attorney of his native coun- ty, an office he held, by re-election, until 1801, when he resigned. He was the senior riner in the law firm of Wilson & Col- ins, a director of the First National Bank pf Snow Hill, and, together with Mr. O. D. Collins, owned the Boatmen’s Lank of Chin- toteague, Va. He was prominent in the de- velopment of Ocean City, served as its mayor for some years and owned much roperty there, as well in other parts of Forcester. Mr. Wilson was a member of the Mary- land Club, Baltimore, and spent much time in Baltimore and in Washington. A few weeks ago Mr. Wilson was taken sick in Baltimore, and for some time was danger- ously ill. Thursday he went to Ocean City on gunning trip and returned Saturday night. The funeral will take place today, inter- Inent being made in the Presbyterian ceme- tery, where Senator Wilson is buried. i Wilson had a high reputation as a lawyer, and particularly as a jury advocate. He had traveled extensively, and was noted for bis engaging social qualities. In politics Mr. Wilson was a strong democrat, al- though he did not always countenance the doings of the party management. In 1805 he pursued an independent course, but this year he stood by the ticket. He had fre- quently been mentioned for Congress, and received several votes in the general as- for the United States Senate, in when Charles H. Gibson was chosen to fill out Senator Wilson’s unexpired term. Mr. Wilson left a widow, who was a Miss Ewing of St. Louis, a daughter, Miss Louise, who has just attained womanhood, and five sons, ranging in ages from eight- een to five years. They are E =z and Victor, students at Georgetown College; Bidney, George and Alfred. e+ —___ Fitzsimmors Manfally Leaves. Robert Fitzsimmons has tendered his resignation to membership in the Marion, Ind., Lodge, B. P. O. E., into which order he initiated recently. “Feeling that my admission to member- ship has placed your lodge in a position to be criticised, no matter unjustly,” says the letter, “I offer this resignation in the hope that your friendly relations with the trder may be wholly restored. ‘The Marion order had been suspended for receiving the champion into its fold. — A Band Leader's Suicide. Prof. Dennis Devy, leader of the band at the National Soldiers' Home, Hampton,Va. committed suicide yesterday by shooting himself with a shotcun. He was sixty-two years old, a native of Ireland and served in the late war from New Hampshire. He had been despondent for some time. —+ e+ ____ John F.
