Better Prices Everywhere. “No, I haven't heard of a calf or sheep’ famine in India, either, and yet calves are now selling in Missouri for from $15 to $25 per head, when befcre McKinley’s election they couid be bought by thousands for from $3 to $8 per head. So with sheep. Before McKinley's election they brought $1.25 per head; now, in Adair county. Mis- souri, they are bringing in the market $3 per head. It is the same way with cattle and hogs. Their price has risen from 30 to 50 per cent, and horses and mules, too, that a short time ago could be bought for a song, with wagon and harness thrown in, are now bringing good prices without wagon and harness, and the demand for them {s increasing daily. “The rise in wheat is easily explained. Men and women.and children are getting work again, and once more they are eating all the bread they want. When the work- ing people are at work in this country they consume one hundred millions of bushels more of wheat a year than when they are idle. Indeed, the average consumption of wheat in the old world is four bushels of wheat a year, while in this country, in good times, it is over six bushels to each person. Yes, when our people have work they live well. “You will also remember that it was al- most impossible to borrow a dollar at a bank a year ago, no matter how good your security. Now all the banks are fuil of money, and a man can borrow all the money he wants. Just think of it; during the last ninety days more than twenty- eight millions of dollars of Kansas mort- gages have been paid off. What a wonder- Clothing, For school wear and for dress pur- poses.
