The third day of the Agricultural Fair Association of Prince George's county opened under; most favorable conditions this morning, with a cool breeze, sun un- der the clouds a portfon of the day, for which the horses were thankful, and with a larger crowd present than any,day pre- vious, estimated at 3,500. The track was in fine condition, and things were general- ly lively. Down on the Midway the price for a fortune was reduced; instead of four balls for a nickel the poor coon had a fifth one to dodge; the rope-walker’s exhibition] was turned into fancy dances, which was @ great attraction, especially for the young folks—such were some of the at- tractions on this avenue. Among some of those present were: Jno. H. Mitchell and Adrian Posey, democratic and republican candidates for judgeship; Samuel Turner, clerk of circuit court of Charles county; J. Briscoe Bunting, Thos. Parran, Thos. Turner, Henry Mudd, A. H. Bowling, Dr. Alfred H. Perrie, Henry M. Murry, Frank Weems, J. H. Ballinger, Dr. Z. Morgan, Dr. L. Freiderick, Henry ‘Tur- ner, Jno. H. The first race was for trotters, and five went to post. From the first, Miada was a favorite, opening at even money and going up to 3'to 5. The Arlington Wheelmen, of which the deceased was a popular member, paid their respects to his memory with a set piece, and his class- mates at Columbian University sbowed their regard through the medium of a broken column. Particularly pathetic was a simple wreath of bride's flowers at the head of the casket bearing a card on which was inscribed the name of the young lady to whom Dr, Coumbe was engaged to be_matrie The services were simple, conducted by the Rev. C. K. Milliken of Fairfax Court House, Va., who is a personal friend of the family. Rev. Mr. Milliken spoke feelingly of the character and commendable traits possessed by the late Dr. Coumbe, and re- ferred to the fact that it was particul sad that he should be so suddenly taken away just as he had reached manhood was beginning what promised to be a ful Christian career.
