CURRENT SPORTING NOTES The ahnual field and track sports of the Georgetown University will be held on university campus tomorrow afternoon be- ginning at 2 o'clock. From the large list of entries it is evident that the sport will be good, while the handicaps are such as to insure close finishes. The program com- prises fifteen events. In the 100-yards Fox js scratch man, Cody, Prince, Walsh and the other men all receiving small handicaps. It is in this race that Cody, who is Trainer Foley find, is expected to do great work. Walsii and Fox seem to have the 220-yards, and while it is possible that some of the smart men may shut them out, it now looks as though Fox, who is in excellent shape, wifl win. Fox also turns out in the 440 yards against Lyon, ore of the fastest quar- ter mile men in the university, who should win this*event. The S80-yard run calls out a small army of starters, and it looks as though bot Lyon and McGirr will have to move fast. Interest is centered in the scratch men, as they are evenly matched, Lyon defeating McGirr by a scant few feet the last time the two met. In the mile, McGt pion cf the country, the ten-mile cham- 8 on scratch, and he has to catch the field at long odds. Nagle is booked: to make’McGirr do fast work, as he is in excellent form. There is little doubt the diminutive scratch man will cut his field and lower the record established by iim last fil. ’In the hurdle Daly and McGirr will strive for honor, and as both are hurdlers of no mean ability a hot race hold the atten- tion of the visitors, as Smith will do fine work with the hammer and shot, and he will be pushed hard by a score or more of strong, sturdy lads who exeel in this branch of sport. C. Royce Hough is scratch in the high jump, but as the high jump has not been resorted to lately he should win. In the broad jump, Walsh, one of George- town’s craek pitchers, whose brilliant per- formance last fall drew to him the atten- Uon-of the entire college, is expected té come out ahead. The pole vault will be also one of the events, and as the majority of the contestants are well matched a splendid exhibition should be given. The bicycle squad of the ‘varsity ‘will make its debut at this meet, and the local public can look upon the riders who will make the fast flyers of the institution. The entries are as follows: handicap—Ralph Quinn, yards; Barry Wrenn, 225 yards; C. R. Yeat- 0 yards: Harry Stier, 165 yards: James Alexander, 145 vards; Martin Suili- van, 10) yards: William Whitney, 8 yards, Oscar Ceppi, ‘ds; C. W. Dannemiller, 45 yards; Fred Schade, scratch. One-haif-mile race—William Whitney, W. Dannemiller, Martin Sullivan, Yeatman, James Alexander, Edward Back and Fred Schat The program will be promptly carried out. There will be no delays. Manager Julius Walsh looks for a large gathering. and has made extensive preparations for the com- fert and plezsure of the visitors. Admis- sion will be free. ii R. WASHINGTONS AT BOSTON. Senators Begin a Series Today at the Massachusetts Capital. The last shower of the day, that came about 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon, knock- ed out the last chance of a game between the New Yorks and Washingtons at Na- tional Park. As the local club has not yet rounded into batting form the shower can be taken as good luck. At 5 o'clock the Senatorial aggregation, with the exception of Maul and Swaim; boarded a Baltimore and Ohio train for Boston, and if every- thing goes well they will be on hand this afternoon for the opening game of the series between the two clubs in that city. Mercer will do the twirling for the Wash- ingtons, while Charley Nichols or Sullivan should go on the slab for the Beaneaters. Nichols has not regained his last years ferm and should he go mM the box our rep- resentatives have more than a good chance of capturing the game. President Freedman and his Giants re- turned home yesterday afternoon when it was decided that no game could be played, well satisfied with the club's work in this city. The proposition that confronts them today—Brooklyn—will make the New York boys extend themselves and should they win their title of Giants will be re-estab- lished. John Kimball, the pitcher signed early this spring on the recommendation of Shortstop Wrigley and who was released by the Washington management a short time since, ‘received an offer yesterday from the Columbus, Ohio, club, and has decided to atcept. Kimball has the making of a good twirler in him, and with another year’s seasoning should do well. ©0990090000000000000 Steg 3 thie &Ge 8 New Philadelphia Sere. “Honest « qualities; monary. parece: - Friday i is Reduction Day Here —and you can't afford to stay aw ay, These are only sample reductions: 900000 One Eton Serge Suit.
