A Man Held Up and Robbed—Some Arrests—The New Union Station. The new Union depot at 36th and M streets is rapidly nearing completion, and in a few months will be ready for occu- pancy. When completed it will stand as a monument to engineering and will be one of the best apportioned buildings of its kind in the ccuntry. The floors have ail been laid with cement, and the structure throughout is entirely fire-proof. In the building there is a large elevator, which will convey cars from one story to anoih while there are other elevators for the use of the public. A clock will be plac in the main central tower, which will be visi- ble for some distance around. Perhaps the best feature of the new building is the roof, which will afford a delightful prome- nade during the hot weather. The view from the elevated position will be mag- nificent, and the breezes coming from the river will temper the heat of the land. The flLor of the promenade is almost on a level with Prospect avenue, and is sur- rounded by an ornamental coping. In the center of the roof, a one-story entrance of the Prospect avenue side, extends the entire length, from north to south, prac- tically dividing the roof in two, and mak- ing as many promenades. Has Been Arrested. Charles Hackerson, colored, was arrested Thursday evening by Policeman Pierce on a charge of carrying concealed weapons. The negro is supposed to be the one that broke into the store of Conrad Arabin, at 30th and O streets, several weeks ago, and who was discovered in time by the po- lice. On the evening of inauguration day he was standing at 2Sth and © streets and attempted to shoot Landis Johnson, colored.
