Food Inspector Mothershead of the health department has condemned a great many canteloupes during the past few days. In some instances he condemned entire ship- ments, the commission merchants losing the frelgkt on them. There are plenty of canteloupes coming from Coan and Yeo- comico rivers now, and they are In excel- lent condition, The Arrowsmith, from the lower Potomac, brought up an imamense cargo of canteloupes and potatoes yester- day. The load was so large that che boat was three hours behind time. These can- teloupes are selling at from $2 to $2.50 a larrel wholesale and are retailing at from 10 to 30 cents apiece.
