The estimate embraces only growers expecting more than 1,000 baskets of fruit. Each tree is estimated to yield only cre bask and even then the figures show that the trees now have prospect of yielding more than half a million baskets. G. Caudill, nearly died of suffoca- tion in her father's deposit vault at Bar- boursville, Ky. Caudill left the office to take a train, and Miss Caudill a her friend, J. H. Byerly, remained. For amusement Byerly had the young lady get into the vault and let him close the door. When she did so the combination was un- intentionally turned and the vault locked. It was then train time, the station was almost a mile away, and Caudill, at the depot, hed the secret of the ccmbination to the vault. Byerly ran for his life and the depot was reached just as the train was leaving. The combination was secured and the vault opened in about fifteen min- utes. The young lady was found uncon- scious, but she will recover. “Thirty Bridexmatas. Walter S. Lieber, a Philadelphia mer- chant, and Miss Boutine Butler, also of Philadelphia, the former a Hebrew and the latter a Quakeress, were married in unique fashion in Chicago. For a long time their difference in faith prevented the wedding, but a compromise was ef- fected. The ceremony took place on one of the peninsulas of the lagoon in Wash- ington Park. Thirty bridesmaids, robed in pure white, chanted the words which bovnd the couple. Both parties are hichly connected in the east, and the peculiar ceremony was written by friends, with the assistance of the bride. Mrs. Lieber has been attending the Chicago Kindergarten Association course here for — several months. After the romantic part of the ceremony a justice of the peace bricfly assisted in making the marriage legal. a Panic on Ferry Boats. The ferry boat Atlantic of the Ferry line, and the Annex ferry boat, plying between Brookiyn and Jersey collided just off the South Ferry slip and for a few minutes there was consil- crable excitement among the passengers, aMthcvgh no one was hurt. The Atlantic was on her regular trip from Brooklyn to South No. New York and the acciient was caused by the annex boat attempting to squeeze through between the Atlan and long tow of canal boats. Neither boat sustained material damage. ——sa»— Four Drowned. At Annandale, Minn., while stiff breeze, Miss Anna Putnam, sie Newhall and John U.
