SUBURBAN NEWS ANACOSTIA. * George Mayhew and Benjamin Joy, who recently went to Norfolk to recover a horse that had been stolen from the farm of the former, in Prince George’s county, Md., have returned unsuccessful Mr. Henry Lloyd of Ammendale, who lost a horse about the same time, has recovered his animal. A free fight Saturday evening created great excitement in Hillsdale. The police quelled the disturbance and arrested Frank Kinley, who appeared to be the leading spirit in the trouble. A disturbance was started in front of Douglass Hall and during the melee s eral bottles were thrown, but fortunately no one was hit. A fight also took place in Stantontown, but there have as yet been No arrests on account of it. Niche’~s Smith has been arrested on a charge _{ beating Mrs. Smith. Mrs. Reppetti of Congress Heights has made arrangements for the erection of a large brick building at the intersection of Monroe street, Morris road and Nicholas avenues The lower portion will be fittcd u as stores, and there will be a public hall in the second story, with several conven- ient and commodious means of exit. Work on the structure will be begun a3 soon as the weather will permit, and the building will be pushed to completion as rapidly vs possible. There has been much complaint recently of damages to cars of the Anacostia line by stoning, and the officers of the com- pany and the police authorities are en- deavoring to run down the offenders. An evening or two ago a stone was thrown through a window of one of the cars and President Griswold, who happeaed to be a Passenger, narrowly escaped being struck on tke head. Henry Hoyle, whose reputation a3 a skill- ful veicrinarian extended throughout this entire section of country, died at his home, near Congress Heights, a few days ago and was buried: Saturday in Congressional cemetery. The club rooms of the Laurel Athletic Club Friday evening were the scene of one of the prettiest masquerade Valls given here for some time. The apartments were ariistical- ly decorated with handsome bunting and flags. and the colors of the club, red and black. The ball opened at 9, and about 11 the masks were removed, revealing the wearers of various funny costumes. Some of the young men were dressed as ballet dancers, princes, aged ladies, old Uncle Tom and the bloomer girl, while the young ladles were dressed as princesses, tambourine and flower girls, the new woman, goddess of liberty and Little Red Riding Hood.
