THE EVENING STAR, THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 7, 1895-TWELVE PAGES. SUBURBAN NEWS ANACOST! ‘The construction of the booths for the bazaar for the benefit of Anacostia Lodge, No. 21, F. A. A. M,, to begin at Masonic Hall next Monday, was begun this morn- ing. The work of decorating the halls will be commenced tomorrow, under the direc- tion of Mr. A. Gude. For many weeks the ladies interested in the efforts to raise funds to relieve the lodge from debt on account of the building of Masanic Hall have labored almost unceasingly, and they feel that the'r efforts will be crowned with success. The general direction has been in the hands of a committee, of which Mrs. E. P. Walson is chairman; Mrs. M. Teach- em, vice chairman; Mrs. T. F. Williamson, secretary, and Mrs. M. I. Fisher, treasurer. Those who will be at the booths during the continuance of the bazaar are: Fancy table No. 1, Ruth Chapter, Mrs. Tarender in charge, assisted by Mrs. Schneider, Mrs. M. The ceremony was performed by Rey. T. B. Hughes, pastor. The bride was attended by Miss Anna Sullivan as brides- maid. The ushers were Messrs. E. Mudd, Lawrence Quill) W. E. Broner and Michael Daly. After the ceremony a reception was given by Mr. and Mrs. Welsh to a few of their most intimate friends, at their future home, No. 721 Sth street southeast. Subse- quently they started for an extendcd wed- ding tour through the north. Interesting services were conducted last night at the Congress Heights M. E. Church by Mr. R. H. Jordan, the veteran evangelist. The Sunday school at Twining City, which was organized some months ago by Mr. Jordan, and is still in his charge, is in a flourishing condition. The Campbell Memoriai Baptist Church at Fort Foote, Md., has been completed suf- ficiently to admit of services being held there, but Rev. Mr. Stevenson, pastor of the Anacostia Baptist Church, who also has charge of the Fort Foote Mission, says that it will not be dedicated until there are enough funds in the treasury to pay every indebtedness. Mrs. Carroll W. Smith and children have returned from a visit to friends in Mary- land. 3 Messrs. Allen Larmer and William Carroll of East Washington have removed to Con- gress Heights. Mrs. W. Hirst Reed, wife of a well-known Methodist Episcopal minister in Baltimore, who has been visiting friends in Anacostia, has returned home. Mr. Theodore Baldwin of Anacostia, who was so critically ill for some time that fears Were entertained of his recovery, is now out of danger. Miss Bertie Dennison of Congress Heights, who has been dangerously sick for several ‘weeks, is now convalescent. —_——___ FALLS CHURCH. . ‘The local union of northern Virginia of the Christian Endeavor Society met at Ballston Saturday. Owing to the rain, the attendance was not as large as usual, but representatives were present from Falls Church, Vienna, Herndon, Andrew Chapel, Sterling, Alexandria, Arlington and Oakton. Devotional exercises were held in the morn- ing, led by Mr. Ray Blanchard of Herndon, followed by an address of welcome by Rev. J. W. Norris of Ballston, and response by Mr. Shreve of Sterling.
