Wednesday It is Believed HELPED TO HANG HER LOVER. A Texas Farmer and His Daughter Murder the Latter's Suitor. The body of Albert Blackman, a well-to- do young man, was found near Logarto, Live Oak county, Texas, a week ago. Around his neck was a rope, and it was evident that he had been hanged to the limb of a tree, under which the body lay. He had last been seen alive in the company of Bessie Harris, the daughter of a farmer of that locality. At the coroner’s inquest Bessie testified that Blackman committed suicide by hanging, and that she witnessed the dead, and after he was dead she cut his body down. Suspicion was aroused, and warrants were issued for the arrest of the Harris girl and her father and mother. The preliminary examination of the prisoners has just been held, and through the confession of Bessie Harris on the witness stand the full details of the crime came out. She said that Blackman had been court- ing her for some time against the wishes of and that the latter, through their talk, caused her to become insanely jealous of the young man. Her father linally arranged with her to put Blackman her paren out of the way. On the night of the killing she met Black- man, and they went for a walk. She de- place until her father arrived with a rope, and they then told Biackman that they were going to hang him. She wanted him to submit as a test of his love, and promising to cut him down in time. The girl states that Black- man did not offer any resistance while the rope was being placed about his neck, and that she tled the knot with ‘her own hands. tained her lover in a lonely Then, at the command of her father, Blackman climbed a tree and and let his body down to the ground.” The girl and her parents are held, charged with murder. ——__—_+e-+__ Court-Martial at the Barracks.
