Barker, who sts well known in this vicinity, 1s lying dan- gerously ill-at the home of hig parents in Mechanicsville, Si. -Mary’s county, Md., and his physicians have but little hopes of his recovery. The plans of the architect for re- modeiing the school building were acceptet, and bids for the work will be invited at once. Past Grand Geo. A. Brunner has received from Mr. T. Bill Montague, grand master of the Grand Lodge of Odd Fellows of Vir- Inia, his commission as deputy grand master. Mra. M. A. Robertson and daughter of + New York city, mother and sister of Mrs. W. J. Capner, are visiting Mrs. Capner, and will spend the summer here. Miss Sue Riddle, who has been visiting relatives and friends in Maryland, returned home Wednesday. Mr. C. H. TAKOMA PARK. ‘There was not a vacant seat in the Pres- byterian Church last night when the bridal Procession of Miss Rose Whitmer and Mr. Wm. W. Steers entered. The platform and reading desk, deccrated with a profusion of palms, vines and blooming white plants, made an effective buckground, which was enhanced by the graceful grcuping of the bridal party under an arch constructed of wild pea vine. Promptly at 8:30, to the strains of Mendelssohr, Miss Finch presid- tng at the organ, the groom, with his best man, Mr. R. A. Montgomery, entered the church simultaneously with the bride and her miid of honor, “Miss E. Irene Steers, meeting at the altar, where, with the ush- ers grouped around them, the ceremony was performed by Rev. Dr. Hammond of Marvin Southern Methcdist Church of South Washington. The marriage was fol- lowed by a reception given to a large num- ber of invited guests at the rew home of Mr. and Mrs. Steers, where many beauti- ful gifts were displayed. The ceremony of cutting the wedding cako was made un- usually impressive by appropriate remarks made by Dr. Hemmond. The bride was becomingly costumed in white organdie, with trimmings of satin and rare old lace, carrying a bouquet composed of maiden- hair fern and daisies,her birth month flower. Miss Steers wore nile green organdie. The ishers were Messrs. Don Patterson, Jas. err, Edwin Tucker of Washington and Chas. Lewis of Takoma.
