D., of Detroit, Mich., to be pastor of the church in plece of Rev. Dr. Bartlett, who recently resigned. The Rev. Dr. John Chester pre- sided over the meeting, and after state- ~ ments were made by John Randolph, Dr. S. L. Crissey and Dr. E. M. Gallaudet, members of the committee who had gone to Detroit, the vote was taken, as stated above. The salary will be the same as heretofore paid, $6,000 and a parsonage. In addition, $1,000 per annum is provided for the salary of a stenographer for the pastor. A call was formally made out and forwarded to Dr. Radcliffe last evening. It is believed that he will accept. A sketch of Dr. Radcliffe, together with his picture, was printed in Saturday's Star. Board of Trade Declines. The boeid of trade has declined the re- quest made by the Single Tax Club for a public hearing on the subject of taxation, for the reason that the present assessment law was framed by a committee of the board and indorsed by the board, and therefore it is not thought advisable or necessary to reopen the entire question at this time, especially when the plan favored by the club is entirely different from the one incorporated in the existing law. ee Use of Money.
