The items below, taken from the Bitten by a Mad Dog. The child of Mr. John Hilleary of the Canal road, one mlie west of the Aqueduct bridge, who was savagely bitten on Sun- day last by a strange dog, sypposed to be rabid, is being treated with a madstone. Strong evidences, it is said, of the dor’s dangerous condition are apparent at every application. The victim of the dog's mad- ness has the imprint of nine teeth in her arm. She was standing in front of her home when the animal came by and at- tacked her. The dog had previously sav- agely bitten other dogs in Georgetown, one at the corner of 35th and N streets. The child as yet does not seem to be suffering greatly, nor has she developed any of the symptoms of hydrophobia. Has Fled From Justice. The colored man Parker, who attempt- ed to shoot, and on being frustrated used the stock of his gun, to its destruction, on Charles Lowe, his brother-in-law, some days ago at the Virginia end of the Chain bridge, has made his escape from the juris- diction of Justice Trout, before whom a warrant was sworn out against him for assault and battery with intent to kill. Parker has gone over into Pennsylvania, it is said. The assault was committed on the refusal of Lowe to give the man fif- teen cents to buy whisky with. The gun went cff, but only a few of the shot with which it was loadéd struck the mark aim- ed for. They were caught in the wrist. Death of Mr. Chas. Memmert. After a considerable illness Mr. Charles Memmert died yesterday at his home, 3116 Dumbarton avenue. Deceased was widely known in the West End. For many years he carried on the tinning business here, and tater engaged in the manufacture of soap on the east bank of Rock creek, near N street. Mr. Memmert was a native of Germany.
