Attorney General and Mrs. Olney enter- tained at dinner last night Solicitor Gen- eral and Mrs. Maxwell, Associate Justice and Mrs. Brewer, Associate Justice and Mrs. Brown, Secretary of Agriculture Mor- ton and Mrs. Minot. The table was taste- fully ornamented with La France roses. The Chinese minister and Mrs. Yang Yu will give a dinner tonight in honor of the Secretary of State and Mrs. Gresham. The guests invited to meet them include those by whom the minister and his wife have already been entertained at dinner, and with whom they have the closest ac- quaintance here, so that this dinner, while it is the first given by them since coming here, will be rather a gathering of their friends than a formal dinner party. The extent of the hospitalities which Minister Yang Yu contemplated when coming here is best evidenced by tne erection during the past summer of a ball room addition to the legation, which is now about com- pletei. The chances are, however, that it will not be used for that purpose this sea- is difficult to trace them. ———_+e--—__ Medical Talks to Young Men. At the Western Presbyterian Church last evening Dr. J, Thomas Kelley delivored another of the practical medical discourses to an audience of young men, for the bene- fit of whom these talks are solely intended. The series, which was recently inaugurated under the auspices of the Brotherhood of St. Andrew and Philip of the church, Is proving very popular and will be continued. — New England Dinner. The annual New England dinner and oyster lunch under the auspices of the ladies of Hamline M. EB. Church will be given on Thursday and Friday, at 516 9th street northwest. The reputation gained by the ladies of this church for serving all the good things connected with a gen- uine old-fashioned New England dinner will no doubt be fully sustained this year. —— a DIED.
