Green pre- sided. After hearing the reports of the work in the different departments, the members proceeded to ballot for delegates to the general district conference, to be held November 5, at Wesley Chapel. Dr. Green, the president of the chapter, and Rev. James McLaren, the pastor, are, by reason of the office, members of the committee. Five others were elected. They are Henry Linger, jr, Mrs. James McLaren, Miss Gertrude Drummond, Mr. George Thomas and Frank bony. Mrs. J. E. Powell, tn the absence of Mr. Powell, the chairman of the literary department, announced that the de- partment would open its fall and winter en- tertainments the fourth Friday in thi: month. The subject of a league pledge was brought up. Heretofore the league has not required of its members a pledge, but last night it was decided to adopt this idea, thus insuring a larger working membership. A commitiee, consisting of Dr. A. M. Green, as chairman, was appointed to present at the next meeting a form of pjedge. Other members ef the committee were Miss Georgie Grove, Miss Emma_ Bowen, Mrs. James McLaren and H. A. Linger, sr. It wil! also be the duty of this committee to receive new members and extend to them the welcome of the organization. There was a meeting of the Women's Christian Temperance Union last night at the residence of Mrs. Barbara King, corner of Jackson and Pierce streets.
